Master musician, Robert Bowden, brings decades of Bluegrass and Celtic performing, recording, and instruction to the bustling art center of Mid-Town Sacramento. Mr. Bowden’s music studio, Stick To Picking, is located at the Urban Hive at 1931 H. Street in Sacramento, 95811.

A Palo Alto native, Mr. Bowden began his musical journey at 12 years old under the tutelage of the late Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead, who, unbeknownst to many, was an excellent banjo player. Bowden went on to not only master the banjo, but also the mandolin, fiddle, guitar, and upright bass.

As a well-known and highly regarded musician in the Northern California bluegrass community, Bowden is able to offer his students opportunities for learning and performing, in both solo and group environments.

Private lessons at Stick To Picking are available Mondays through Saturdays. Bowden teaches all levels and ages in the following:

Banjo: Scrugg’s Style (Bluegrass), Claw-hammer, Celtic

Fiddle: Bluegrass & Celtic

Mandolin: Bluegrass & Celtic

Guitar: Beginning to Intermediate Rhythm
