I have been picking and performing for 32 years. In 1993 I was hired as banjoist for the Shady Grove Band in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. I spent 15 years in North Carolina where I also had my own group Lonesome Moon in which I played guitar. I have shared the stage with Tony Williamson, Jim Mills. and I also worked with Jack Lawrence to transcribe his solo's for Flatpick Guitar magazine,Ten Miles to Deep Gap was published. I do not perform much anymore due to major spine issues.

I teach Scruggs and melodic styles on banjo, flatpick guitar, and mandolin. Traditional and progressive styles. I also teach improvisation techniques with an emphasis on learning to "hear what you play, and playing what you hear", while at the same time building a foundation in music theory. Beginning to advanced. I teach out of my home.
